Hi Kathy, I just discovered your blog. I’m going to be starting a weight loss plan the day after my birthday, a couple days from now. I want to see how much weight I can lose before my next birthday, although since I have 200 pounds to lose and really out of shape, I know it will take more like 2 or 3 years. You’ve had such good success that I was wondering if you could share anything you’ve learned along the way as far as what you eat or don’t eat, whether you plan meals or decide as you go, whether you count calories and/or carbs, etc. I want to make a commitment to this, but I’ve read so much conflicting stuff that I’m kind of overwhelmed about how to begin, aside from steering clear of the candy. I don’t eat a lot at one time but I kind of graze all day as a way to relax and break up the boredom and lonliness. Thanks for both the inspiration and any advice. Oh, and also, I’m not a young woman, I’m in my 60s. Kind of amazing I’m still aive with all this weight.

Thanks Hazel! Good for you! I’m pretty sure as I lose more weight my mission will be to give hope to all the overweight baby boomers out there. I’m suprised I’m alive as well! But God must have a plan for us, otherwise he would not keep us around. People who are overweight are living longer, but not better. I’m hoping we can change that around. When I first started, I simply counted calories. 1400 a day. I tracked it on http://www.myfitnesspal.com , if you use that app, and would like to be my friend on there and see my progress and the food I eat each day my name is totalkathy. It is a free way to keep track of what you are eating. Then I started searching the Internet for people on line who had lost over 200 pounds without surgery. I real a lot of blogs. So I started this one. I also found Sean Andersons blog. http://losingweighteveryday.blogspot.com Sean has lost and kept off 300 pounds. I wrote him and we became friends, soon after I joined his weight loss group. That is when the biggest change hapened. We had weekly phone meetings and a secret Facebook page, and I soon had a whole group of people who supported me. I got my coaching credentials and I am now a co-facilitator with Sean in that group. The key factor is to find a healthy food plan that works for you, and find some people who can suport you who have and are doing what you want. Honesty and accountability is key. My 1400 calories have been refined, I no longer eat anything with sugar, and I eat a lot more vegtables these days. I keep refining my food choices the farther I go. If you are ever interested in joining our 8 week suport group, watch the next few weeks on this blog. I’ll be posting information about it. We start the new 8 week group in 2 weeks, the cost is $120.00 and it’s well worth It. Many of our members are having great suscess! Take care Hazel, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to write me! Blessings!
